The Goreme Open Air Museum is one of the biggest monastic sites in Cappadocia. Built by the Byzantines, there are original, well-preserved frescoes that you don’t want to miss. The artist was able to skillfully paint the features and poses of the figures on the walls in a way that matches the design of the building. There are three main churches on the site in the museum, the Church of the Apple, the Church of the Dark and the church of the Sandals. Uchisar was the main point of defense for the region of Cappadocia and provided a safe haven for citizens.
